The Kia EV6 is one of the most
award winning electric cars ever
made — it won World Car of the
Year World Electric Vehicle of
the Year and World Car Design
of the Year simultaneously in 2022.
The 2026 facelift version
available in India brings a
larger 84kWh battery 663km
claimed range and ultra fast
350kW charging. Here is our
complete review.
What Makes The EV6 Special
The Kia EV6 is built on Kia’s
dedicated E GMP electric
skateboard platform — the same
platform shared with the Hyundai
Ioniq 5. This dedicated EV
platform enables the flat floor
layout long wheelbase and
optimised weight distribution
that makes the EV6 so impressive
to drive. It is fundamentally
different from EVs built on
modified petrol car platforms.
Design — Like Nothing Else on Indian Roads
The EV6 has a concept car like
design that turns heads everywhere.
The sharp Z shaped LED DRLs
blanked off nose and full width
rear LED light bar create a
futuristic aggressive appearance
unlike anything else available
in India. The sloping coupe like
roofline sculpted bonnet and
flush door handles complete a
design that won World Car Design
of the Year for very good reason.
The 2026 facelift adds hook
like LED DRLs a revised front
bumper new 19 inch alloy wheels
and tweaked rear lighting —
making a stunning car look even
more premium.
Performance — AWD Only in India
The EV6 is available in India
in a single fully loaded GT Line
AWD variant. The dual motor
setup produces 325bhp and 605Nm
of torque — giving 0-100kmph
in 5.3 seconds. Real world
testing by Autocar India achieved
5.16 seconds — genuinely quick
performance that rivals cars
costing three times the price.
The AWD system provides excellent
traction in wet conditions and
the EV6 handles with genuine
enthusiasm in corners — making
it the most driver focused EV
available in India at this
price point.
Battery and Range
The 2026 EV6 gets a larger 84kWh
NMC battery replacing the
previous 77.4kWh unit. ARAI
certified range is 663km while
real world combined range in
Indian conditions is approximately
490 to 500km — class leading
for a dual motor AWD EV.
City driving efficiency of 5.18
km per kWh translates to
approximately 435km of city
range while highway driving
achieves 6.67 km per kWh —
560km of highway range. The
EV6’s efficiency is extraordinary
for a 325bhp AWD vehicle.
Ultra Fast 350kW Charging
The EV6’s 800V electrical
architecture enables DC fast
charging at up to 350kW — the
fastest charging capability
of any EV available in India.
A 10 to 80 percent charge
takes just 18 minutes on a
compatible 350kW charger —
making long distance highway
travel as convenient as a
petrol car stop.
Even on a 50kW DC charger
the same charge takes 73
minutes — practical for a
lunch break on a long highway
drive.
Interior and Features
The EV6’s cabin is wide airy
and genuinely premium. The
dual 12.3 inch curved panoramic
screens span the entire dashboard
creating a dramatic tech focused
cockpit. The augmented reality
heads up display overlays
navigation directions onto
the real world view — genuinely
useful technology for Indian
highway driving.
The 14 speaker Meridian sound
system is the best audio
experience of any EV available
in India at this price point.
Ventilated front seats panoramic
sunroof wireless Android Auto
and Apple CarPlay wireless
charging and 64 colour ambient
lighting complete a premium
package.
V2L technology allows you to
power appliances from the
EV6’s battery — useful for
camping and outdoor use.
490 litre boot plus 52 litre
frunk gives it excellent total
storage capacity for a coupe
styled EV.
Safety
5 star Euro NCAP rating 8
airbags 360 degree camera
and comprehensive Level 2
ADAS with adaptive cruise
control lane keep assist
and automatic emergency
braking make it one of the
safest EVs available in India.
Price and Value
At ₹65.97 lakh the EV6 is
more expensive than the BYD
Sealion 7 at ₹49.40 lakh
and Hyundai Ioniq 5 at
₹55.70 lakh. The price
premium reflects its status
as a CBU import attracting
higher import duties. On
value per feature basis the
BYD Sealion 7 offers more
at a lower price — but the
EV6 offers the most driver
focused experience and the
fastest charging of any EV
in India.
Verdict
The Kia EV6 is the most
driver focused and fastest
charging EV available in
India in 2026. For buyers
who prioritise driving
dynamics charging speed
and award winning design
over maximum features per
rupee the EV6 is the most
compelling premium EV
available in India. The
World Car of the Year title
was not given lightly —
driving an EV6 confirms
why it deserved every award
it won.
