MG Hector Plus 2026 Facelift

MG Hector Plus 2026 Facelift — India’s Most Feature Loaded 7 Seater Under ₹20 Lakh

MG launched the Hector Plus
facelift in December 2025 making
it one of the most significant
updates to India’s most feature
loaded affordable 7 seater SUV.
Starting at ₹17.29 lakh the
2026 Hector Plus offers a 14
inch touchscreen Level 2 ADAS
gesture controls voice commanded
panoramic sunroof and Harman
Infinity sound system at a price
that makes every rival look
underspecified. Here is our
complete review.

Why Hector Plus Continues to Sell
The MG Hector Plus has maintained
strong sales since 2020 through
one simple formula — more features
for less money than any rival.
When Indian buyers see the 14 inch
touchscreen 360 degree camera
gesture controls and premium Urban
Tan interior at ₹17.29 lakh they
find it genuinely difficult to
walk away despite the newer more
polished alternatives available.

Design Updates
The 2026 Hector Plus facelift
brings a significantly more
prominent and muscular chrome
grille redesigned front bumper
updated LED headlights and
fog lamps and new alloy wheel
designs. Two new colour options
Celadon Blue and Pearl White
join the existing Aurora Silver
Glaze Red and Starry Black.

The Hector Plus gets the Urban
Tan interior scheme — a warm
dual tone finish that feels
genuinely more premium than
the previous all black interior
and makes the already large
cabin feel more upmarket and
inviting.

The 14 Inch Touchscreen With Gesture Controls
The Hector Plus’s party piece
continues to be India’s largest
14 inch HD portrait touchscreen
infotainment system — now with
the segment first i-SWIPE gesture
controls. You can swipe your
hand in front of the screen
to change AC temperature fan
speed music and volume without
touching the screen. Novel and
genuinely useful on dusty Indian
roads where keeping the screen
clean is a constant battle.

The screen supports over 100
voice commands wireless Android
Auto and Apple CarPlay and
MG’s i-SMART connected car
platform with over 75 features
for remote monitoring and
vehicle management from your
smartphone.

Voice Commanded Panoramic Sunroof
The 2026 Hector Plus can open
and close its panoramic sunroof
via voice command — a world
first feature at this price
point that generates enormous
wow factor among passengers.
Combined with the powered
tailgate that also opens via
gesture or voice the Hector
Plus delivers technology
touches that genuinely impress.

Engine Options
The 2026 Hector Plus is currently
available with the 1.5 litre
turbo petrol producing 143bhp
and 250Nm — available with
6 speed manual or CVT automatic.
The 2.0 litre diesel producing
170bhp and 350Nm with manual
transmission was the more
popular variant and is expected
to return later in 2026.

The petrol CVT is smooth and
refined for city driving delivering
12 to 13 kmpl in mixed conditions.
The diesel manual is significantly
more economical at 15 to 16
kmpl on highways making it
the preferred choice for buyers
who do significant highway
driving.

Seven Seat Experience
The Hector Plus offers both
6 and 7 seat configurations.
The 6 seat version with captain
chairs in the second row is
more comfortable for adult
passengers. The 7 seat version
maximises capacity but second
row comfort is reduced.

The third row is small — best
for children on shorter journeys.
Boot space with all three rows
up is just 155 litres — this
is the Hector Plus’s main
practical weakness. Fold the
third row and boot space expands
significantly to practical levels.

Safety
6 airbags Level 2 ADAS with
adaptive cruise control lane
departure warning forward
collision warning automatic
emergency braking and traffic
jam assist 360 degree camera
with wheel view hill hold and
PM 2.5 air filter make it
comprehensively safe. The ADAS
badge on the rear is a meaningful
improvement over the previous
model that many buyers will
appreciate.

The absence of a Global NCAP
or Bharat NCAP crash test rating
remains a concern for safety
conscious buyers — the Tata
Safari and Hyundai Alcazar with
their proven safety ratings
are stronger choices if crash
test results are your priority.

Honest Limitations
The 1.5 litre turbo petrol
is underpowered for the Hector
Plus’s size — particularly
noticeable on steep climbs
or highway overtaking with
a full load of 7 passengers.
The diesel’s absence currently
removes the most practical
powertrain from the lineup.
MG’s service network while
expanding is still significantly
smaller than Tata Hyundai and
Maruti — a genuine concern
for buyers outside major metros.

Price and Value
The Hector Plus starts at
₹17.29 lakh for the base
Sharp Pro 7 seater petrol
manual going up to ₹19.69
lakh for the top Savvy Pro
CVT automatic. The diesel
variants when they return
are expected to top out at
approximately ₹21 lakh.

Against the Mahindra XUV 7XO
at similar pricing the Hector
Plus wins on feature count
and touchscreen size while
losing on engine power and
overall build quality. Against
the Hyundai Alcazar it wins
on features and price while
losing on safety ratings and
Hyundai’s service network.

Verdict
The MG Hector Plus 2026
remains the most feature
loaded 7 seater under ₹20
lakh in India. If maximum
technology features the 14
inch touchscreen and a
competitive price are your
priorities the Hector Plus
delivers an unmatched value
proposition. If safety ratings
service network and driving
dynamics matter more choose
the Tata Safari or Hyundai
Alcazar instead.
